I don't know where to start with this advert and I can't work out if I like it or not. I will just simply list phrases below. Feel free to comment with your own opinions. Also I do not consider myself to know much about the soccer [football] world.

"Having Sex of Any Kind [even by yourself]"

The text says it all. This poster was located on back of the door to my hostel room in L.A (U.S.A). Message me if you want the hostels name as I highly recommend it. The most cleanest Hostel I have ever seen. They were dusting ceiling fans as I walked in.

My Easter Does Not Look Right!

My best friend moved to Europe recently. She arrived the week of Easter in Madrid and stumbled across a rather odd parade. Image

At first she was a little worried looking at the costumes, they resembled the all to familiar KKK. She was wrong this was an Easter parade in Spain.Image

Unlike the white masks of KKK the white masks covering the face demonstrates a sign of mourning for the death of Christ. This tradition was long in place before the KKK. It's sad that recent history/politics/pop culture has created this confusion of imagery.

One of my closest family friendsImage, on the other hand is Greek. Having visited Greece last year on my travels with my parents, she sent me this.

The Grand Budapest Hotel

AD // TRAVEL // POP features a category called Hotel Humour; I have not posted under this category yet, but will soon. That category will mention funny moments in hotels I have stayed around the world. These moments may be because of people, booking problems, service problems. Post will be G rated through R rated.

On another note I thought it would be fitting to introduce my new category by means of my pop culture section. The Grand Budapest Hotel is a comedy film directed by Wes Anderson [The Royal Tenenbaums and Fantastic Mr. Fox]. The delicious colour palate featured in the films, trailer and posters drew my attention. On appearance the film looks aesthetically pleasing wonderland that had me thinking Sophia Coppola. M. Gustave, the main character, played by Ralph Fiennes was distracting. I have seen films featuring Ralph Fiennes before; although now I am unsure I will be able too look past his role in Harry Potter as Voldemort. Even with his nose intact in this film.voldemort_nose

It makes me wonder how some actors can’t escape their on-screen characters and some can. Star Wars is a great example with the different careers of Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. I do not think this will be the case for Ralph Fiennes however I can see myself comparing M. Gustave and Voldemort throughout the film.

I will post a review of the film soon after I have seen the film.

I also would like to point out my annoyance with the Harry Potter Films. VOLDEMORT HAD A NOSE IN THE FIRST PICTURE. did he loose it sniffing out Harry?

Prince Conti Hotel in New Orleans

I spent three nights in New Orleans or as the Locals say N'Awlins. For the first two nights (pre-tour) we stayed at The Prince Conti Hotel in the French Quarter. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit New Orleans. [My parents are visiting in September but it was already booked out by February.

ImageThe hotel is on Conti street which is perpendicular to the Infamous Bourbon Street. In the morning we would get up early have a Louisiana Po-Boy [prawn for me] a coffee and walk to the right outside of the entrance to the hotel. Continuing to walk right around 50 metres and we were standing in the very heart of Bourbon Street.

There were ups and downs to this location. It was extremely noisy at night even on the Monday, and we went out both nights home by around 1 or 2am, Even if you do not like a buzzing nightlife or to party this is still a must attraction to visit.

Another problem with the hotel is although it was situated in the buzzing end of Bourbon it was also closest to all the stripper venues hosting an array of unique patrons lurking outside. I understand this is the charm however being the majority of the shops in the bubble around our hotel this was less then desirable. We chalked it up to experience and left it at that.

The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms though small were great. All I want is a clean bathroom and a shower head that produces very hot temperatures that is not a trickle.

There were few food venues or shops [as us Aussie's refer to] around the hotel. The closest Walgreen's or CVS pharmacy was on canal street some distance away. This meant no healthy snack alternatives no cheap booze to drink for pre-drinking. However there were plenty of cafe's and restaurants and numerous bars, drinking on the street seemed to be ok as well. My friend and I decided New Orleans was not a city forstaying in your hotel, drinking before hand to spend less in the bars. Instead we ventured out and drank and actually found that the price to drink at bars alone was rather cheap.

 Summary

Bed = 5 stars

Location = 4 stars

Cleanliness = 4 stars

Service = 2 stars

Location to shops[food/alcohol] = 1 star

Once again, THAT BED WAS SO COMFORTABLE!!!!

Louis Vuitton Heaven

Bags and Accessories [besides sunglasses and statement jewelry] were never a commodity I had interest in. In the past my purchases were based on low price, fitting a need and simplistic designs. E.g 'library bag', 'laptop bag', or 'hold just enough make-up for a night out without over-doing it bag' etc.

My consumer buying behaviour took a turn when I Google searched  the perfect carry on bag for my double overseas trip in 2013. Yes that's right double. The search for the perfect bag became an obsession for a month! The double trip consisted of Europe and the Middle East and then The United States of America, in three months. There was only three short weeks between the trips. Needless to say i wanted to feel organized,stylish and comfortable.

This post is featuring the Louis Vuitton styles i preferred, I will do future posts on other brands as well. I have also featured the agenda in this post as i want to highlight that this is one of the main features of my carry on bag and organization.

I ended up using the Louis Vuitton Vintage monogram speedy 30 [but in the Damier print] for my Carry-On to Europe.

I used the Neverfull MM Damier Azure for my carry on from Sydney to Los Angeles. Coincidentally I still use this as a carry bag for University. After lugging half my gear from airport to airport [I had up to thirty flights in three months] this never gave me a sore back or discomfort.
